Balinese cats are known for their dark points which include ears, nose, tail, and paws. The coat is also longer than that of a Siamese cat. Their coats are silky soft to the touch with no undercoat which makes them hypoallergenic.

There are no exact records as to when the first Balinese cats were born however experts believe it may have been as early as the 1940s.

Balinese cats have been recognized as a breed since the 1960s by official cat associations such as the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) and the American Cat Fanciers Association (ACFA).
